Tips on Marketing your Business in Pinterest
Let me clarify something. Pinterest is not what you think it is.
To start, Pinterest is not a social media platform. Pinterest is a search engine platform. We have been using Pinterest to share ideas for various interests such as food recipes, home decorations, fashion and beauty. But Pinterest is an underrated tool when it comes to marketing a business.
In this article I share simple tips that will help you get started with promoting your Business on Pinterest.
Create your Pinterest Business account. It is quite easy to create an account, just click on "sign up" then follow the prompts to create your account.
In the "Settings" section of your account, ensure you claim your Website. This will allow you to connect to Pinterest Analytics.
Once you have set up your Pinterest business account, you will be able to access the analytics tool and be able to use their advertising features. With Pinterest Analytics you will be able to gain insights into your audience, your pin's performance, and your website's traffic. With this data you will be able to optimize your Pinterest strategy and grow your business.
Now that you have your account set up and ready, you will be able to create boards. Boards can be created based on your type of business. Many business owners make the mistake of just promoting the product. But the truth is that people relate to people, not the products that they are selling. You must ensure you are building a relationship with your customers.
It is crucial that you are letting your customers know how your product solves their problem. You want to focus on the problem your product resolves.
Board ideas for product-based business:
- Educational boards - Show your customers how they can use their product. Educate them on how the product can resolve their problem.
- Client focused Board - Show how your clients are currently using your product and how it helps them solve a problem.
- Inspiration Board
- Best Seller Board - showcase your best sellers. You can also highlight your client's testimonials.
- Categorize your products - Make sure you categorize each product and how they differ from each other. Maybe each product solves a different problem.
- Show your customers who you are! Create a personal board so customers can know the person behind the brand.
- Showcase Seasonal Products - Everyone knows that Holiday Sales are at their peak. Showcase new seasonal items and ensure you pin them to the top.
Board Ideas for Service & E-Learning based products:
Behind the scenes – Show people what goes on behind the scenes.
This will give them an opportunity to get to know you better and show them what sets you apart from your competitors.
Industry Tools – share tools in the industry that coincide with your services.
How your products offer solutions to their problems – Write articles showing how your service resolves their pain points. You will gain their trust as a suject matter expert.
Testimonials – Testimonials are a fantastic way to show how your services are helping other customers.
Group Boards – Network with other local businesses by placing group boards. This will help you connect with potential customers in your local area.
Once you create your boards, now it's time to pin content. If you business has a blog, you can post your articles and provide content with a link to your article.
Ensure that you are not just posting about your products. Make it personable, and build relationships with your customers. Create an email campaign to continue building on that relationship.
Use keyword enriched content. Do your research and search for terms around your niche. Make sure you use keywords that your customers are using.
It is important that you monitor your analytics at least every quarter. This will help you determine what content your customers are enjoying the most. By monitoring quarterly, you will be able to make the necessary adjustments to ensure you are maintaing great customer engagement.
Although completely optional, consider paying for Pinterest advertisement. This will help you reach a wider audience. Promoted Pins appear at the top of the search results and will allow you to attract customers that you may not have found your content otherwise.
Following these tips should help you start with marketing your business in Pinterest. We all start at zero and it will take some time before you may start seeing results. But with consistent posting, you should see progresstive results.
